So Itachi is not the only one who he got a present for~ He could never forget littlest bro Sasubutt. EVER.

And, having pondered over what would be the best thing to give him, he realized Sasuke pretty much had everything any kid would ever want by way of material things, so, Shisui decides he'd pay the pet store a little visit. It was probably time Sasuke trained himself to take up responsibility for someone else. Sort of like a caregiver arrangement. lol no, Shisui was totally not trying to exact revenge for all those years of babysitting, honest!

Well, there were cats and dogs and ferrets - reminded him of Itachi - and bunnies and turtles and snakes and birds and all that but hmm... What catches his eye is this baby hedgehog that was just brought in.

And so, he is going to leave this little guy in a box (with little holes for ventilation) tied up in a big red ribbon right beside your bed, Sasuke (:

Sasuke wakes to snuffling and scraping, and at first he wonders if Naruto's being a pest next to him--but the scrape is different, sounds like cardboard, and he slept alone last night.

Blearily, he rubs his eyes and looks down at the side of his bed where the noise is coming from. Reads the note. Frowns. Opens the box.

"If this is a joke about my hair, it isn't funny," he hollers, very carefully lifting the little animal from the box. It's warm, and soft, and surprisingly easy to handle--it snuffles at his wrist, and attempts to climb up his arm.

His heart squishes, just a little.

Not that he'll tell anyone.

Shisui hears him, and grins, flipping the omelet he was making downstairs.

About ten minutes later, he makes his way upstairs to Sasuke's room and opens the door, full of smiles, despite having only slept three hours. Obviously, his head is in the clouds because of something else, but he won't mention that just yet.

"Well? Do you like?" He sits right beside Sasuke on the bed, looking over at the little guy in his hands ♥ "Everybody else has cats and dogs and gerbils."

He's unfazed by his door opening--used to it by now, with two nosy older brothers--and stares down into big, wet hedgehog eyes.

"Is it a boy or a girl?" he asks, trying not to squirm as the little hedge-feet tickle over his palm, the animal crawling against his wrist.

"A girl." He reaches out to pick up the little hedgehog in his hand and gently turns her over, tickling that fluffy belly for a bit before cautiously bringing a finger down near the tail. "The female's genitals are immediately next to the anus. If it was a boy," - he runs his finger up the hedgie's belly - "it'd almost resemble a belly button because the penis would be somewhere around here."

And now, because the hedgie is going to struggle a little, Shisui gently flips her over again and puts her back into Sasuke's hands. "So what're you going to call her?"

It doesn't really faze him either way--he takes the hedgehog back, focusing on its--her--snuffling, tubular nose.

"Spike," he says flatly, running a fingertip over her back. The spines are surprisingly smooth to the touch.

Watch as Shisui just practically sits there, listening intently for something else after 'Spike'. Maybe, Spike-a-dora or something. But no. The silence is deafening, and all he can hear is an echo of S-P-I-K-E.

His eyebrow arcs almost all the way up to his hairline just then. "Spike? Isn't that a more masculine name?"

He stares up at Shisui, blinking at him as he stares back, like he's waiting for something. Then he speaks--Sasuke continues to pet his new animal, rolling his eyes.

"She's a hedgehog. Spike is the logical choice," he says. Duh.

He blinks as well, and the grin is back. Shrugging, he says: "Well, she's your hedgehog~ Although I hoped you'd get a little more creative with naming her." Shisui looks down at the tiny animal and chuckles. "So, Spike Uchiha, welcome to the family. Get used to being the only girl around this place." He tries petting her again and unfortunately Spike nibbles on him.

"I bought you a book on caring for hedgehogs," he adds, dabbing the blood on his pants and then shaking his hand to rid his poor finger of the sting.

He smirks as Spike shows Shisui just what she thinks of him, and picks her up gently--she doesn't bite him. A small triumph.

"Don't be so dramatic," he says, lifting Spike in his hand and letting her snuffle a little at his nose. "And thanks. Where's the book?"

"I wasn't being dramatic, just stating the truth. And she thinks I'm tasty is all." Sure, Shisui would keep telling himself that. He really shouldn't have pulled his hand away so quickly; the bite would never have torn skin that way.

But he will watch the two of them bond and smile to himself, not really saying anything lest it should (definitely would) ruin the moment. Rising from his spot, he goes to find the book, and yes, he is going to sing as he starts looking for it. And of all the love songs he could think of, he's going with Always and Forever by Heatwave. Why? Well he'd first have to be pulled down from the clouds to answer that~

Shisui returns in the middle of the song, bringing the hedghog-care book with him and sitting right next to Sasuke again, still singing, but softer this time |8 "We probably should have got her home ready before getting her..."
